Benjamin Cohen started selling dental instruments out of a 100-pound carrying case in 1924. After 6 years Ben
decided to give up the instrument "peddler" life and settle down and open a dental supply depot. 1972 was a
disastrous year - - - Benco endured a devastating flood (8 1/2 feet of water) and Benjamin passed away. There
was no option but to recover from both disasters and today Benco has 21 regional showrooms with over 850
employees serving over 20,000 customers in 18 states. Benco's current volume is approaching $200,000,000.

Lightspeed helped Benco to design and implement a Frame Relay solution, which included the 2 main sites, 2
warehouses and 21 showrooms. A total Cisco Solution was implemented using Cisco 2620 Routers, Cisco 1720
Routers, PIX 506 and 515 Firewalls. A Cisco 3640 Router connects Benco's Painless Materials Management
System, which is used by dental practices to order supplies electronically.
